BOZEMAN – Montana State University Extension horticulturist and Montana Master Gardener program coordinator Toby Day will be the guest specialist at the Extension booth at the Gallatin Valley Farmers’ Market at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 27.
Day will highlight the best trees and shrubs for the home landscape, as well as discuss what to do about mountain pine beetle and other pests. Day can assist with tree and shrub identification and answer questions about plant varieties appropriate to our planting area.
“People are encouraged to bring plant or insect samples to the booth for diagnosis or identification,” Day said. “If you want to know what will grow in your area, or what plant is invading your garden, pasture or cropland, bring a sample of it to the Gallatin Valley Farmers Market this Saturday.”
Each week throughout the summer market, Extension specialists will help answer questions about weeds, insects, diseases and other general yard and garden issues. They also provide free MSU Extension factsheets and MontGuides.
The Gallatin County Farmers Market runs from 9 a.m. through noon on Saturdays through Sept. 8.
